Sins of The Father

“Did the kids get the books I sent?”

“They don’t speak German Mama.”

“I see… that husband of yours…”

“Mama enough…”

“I mean who goes to a beach with a long sleeve shirt on?” said her mother with retort.

“You know he doesn’t want anyone seeing his tattoo.”

“I didn’t know he was in the army.”

“He wasn’t, mama we’ve been over this.”

“Honey, I am home” said her husband as cool air blew from the open front door.

“I have to go.” she said before hanging up the phone.

Three young kids rushed to the door. By the time she greeted her husband the youngest was already hanging off his leg.

“How was work?”

“Same old.” said her husband as he picked one of the kids up from off the ground.

“I got off the phone with my mother.”

“That can’t be good.”

“She wants to know if we will be visiting them for Christmas."

“Why doesn't daddy have parents?” asked their seven year old.

“Because of people like grandma and papa” snubbed her husband.
